February 26, 2013 — New York, NY — Capital Cities will launch the “Dancing With Strangers” tour – its first-ever North American outing – on April 23 at the Crescent Ballroom in Phoenix, AZ.  The headline run will include a show at New York City’s Irving Plaza on May 9 and wrap up with a hometown show at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles on June 6. Dual frontmen Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian – jingle writers who met on Craigslist – have created significant buzz with “Safe and Sound,” the first single from Capital Cities’ self-titled EP. The track is fast approaching the Top 10 at Modern Rock radio with major airplay on such stations as KROQ-Los Angeles, 987-Los Angeles, Live 105-San Francisco and The End-Seattle and is also garnering adds at Triple A radio stations. “Safe and Sound” is No. 1 on Sirius XM’s Alt Nation and has already sold more than 82,000 singles. It has been heard on The CW’s 90210 and in promotional campaigns for HBO, Smart Car and more than half a dozen other spots. The band’s video for “Safe and Sound” has more than one million views.

Neon Gold hailed “Safe and Sound” as a “sonic head rush…an easy, breezy, beautiful slice of effervescent-electro-pop that absolutely kills it” while Status magazine said: “Consider yourself warned, listening to Capital Cities is habit-forming.” The EP, released by Capitol Records in mid-December 2012, is available digitally and as limited edition 12” vinyl editions. NEW ALBUM ROCKETS INTO SPACE TOMORROW

First Copy Of Single Travels From Cape Canaveral To

International Space Station In SpaceX Dragon Cargo Capsule

“Up In The Air” Set For March 19 Release

Thirty Seconds To Mars new single “Up In The Air” will be launched into space tomorrow. The band members will be in Florida to watch the launch of the second SpaceX cargo mission to the International Space Station. The company’s Falcon 9 rocket carrying its Dragon cargo capsule is scheduled to lift off on Friday, March 1, at 10:10 a.m. EST from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. The capsule will be filled with more than 1,200 pounds of scientific experiments and cargo – and the first copy of “Up In The Air.” Fans can watch the launch at http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html. Full details and updates on the mission are also available on NASA’s website at http://www.nasa.gov/station.

The band will visit Mission Control Houston for a Q&A with Tom Marshburn, one of the astronauts aboard the space station. The Q&A, scheduled for Monday, March 18, will be broadcast live online with details available shortly at www.thirtysecondstomars.com. “Up In The Air” will premiere worldwide that day and be commercially available at all digital retailers the following day, March 19.

“Up In The Air” is the first single from the band’s fourth studio record, which will be released later this year. The album follows This Is War, which contained the No. 1 Modern Rock radio hits “This Is War” and “Kings and Queens.” In the course of its two-year tour in support of This Is War, the band sold out arenas around the globe, playing over 311 shows in nearly 60 countries on six continents to an astounding three million people – and breaking the Guinness World Record® for most shows played during a single album cycle. This Is War was hailed as “an artistic triumph” (Alternative Press) and “a shimmering epic” (MTV.com). Entertainment Weekly observed: “[Lead singer] Leto doesn’t just shoot for the moon, he practically colonizes it.”

Thirty Seconds To Mars – comprising brothers Jared Leto and Shannon Leto as well as Tomo Milicevic – has sold over 5 million albums worldwide and the band’s videos have more than 300 million views on YouTube. The group has received numerous awards, including a dozen MTV awards worldwide, a Billboard Music award and honors from NME, Kerrang! and Fuse. Artifact, a documentary about the making of This Is War, won the People’s Choice documentary award at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival and the Audience Award at the 2012 Gotham Independent Film Awards. The film will be screened at SXSW on Wednesday, March 13.
